Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a medical diagnosis that involves varying levels of disability.
Our communities are all neurodiverse. Those with diagnoses such as ASD and ADHD may be referred to as "neurodivergent."
AAC refers to communication other than speech. It may be "low tech" such as visuals, or sign-assisted language. Or it may be high tech such as an app like TouchChat or Weave Chat AAC.
Gestalt Language Processing refers to the type of language processing common in Autistic individuals. It may also be referred to as "echolalia" because it involves repeating words and phrases.
Inclusion refers to the education practice that all children belong in their neighbourhood schools and need to be supported to engage and learn as much as possible with their peers.
